Most of you have had an opportunity to follow along as I was creating a Sacred Space. Pictures have been posted and I appreciate the feedback about what you thought I was up to.
I have always been one who likes small places and having cozy rooms with things within my reach. Some of you have seen my traveling houses on wheels throughout the years, and there have been many. I once had a Honey Bear and a Party Trailer. I had the Green Grass Pony, which carried my teepee poles from place to place. I had a Red Earth Pony, a Blue Sky Pony, and a Red Star Pony.
Now I have my Bohemian Owl Wagon. She is parked in my yard where I visit her every day. Although she is roadworthy, I am not sure that I will take her out. Pulling a trailer is not always an easy feat, and at my age I need to be drawing inward. Of course, I will continue to travel and do some teaching, but my Owl Wagon will always be waiting for me to return.
I worked to create the space inside of her to be exactly what I needed and wanted. The interior was mostly gutted, giving me space to create comfort and coziness. It has been a place that I could decorate in my own eclectic way. It is a place for me to dream. I sleep in her often. It is a healing place for me.
I have a small efficient kitchen. I enjoy coffee there in the mornings as the birds are singing. I have invited Medicine Tree in for a simple supper.
My cat family has migrated to this part of the yard where they lay around the doorstep and lounge on the table that I have in the front. Baby Sunshine, one of my kitties, has decided that she thinks it's a grand thing to visit me. She comes in, has some kitty treats, gives herself a bath and then settles down to sleep. She sometimes comes up on the couch and pats me on my face and touches her nose to mine. I think that is her way of showing how much she loves me and that she approves of this new dwelling.
The dining and couch areas that are in most travel trailers were very mundane. That was all taken out and I brought in a very comfortable couch, long enough for sleeping, and a space for a couple of people to sit with me. I brought in a chair with a footstool that is a great reading nook.
I bought an electric fireplace that heats and also puts out flame. I look forward to using it come winter time.
There are all kinds of self-adhesive wallpaper now. I chose to use ones that look like a log cabin, like a random board wall, and like brick. The combination of these has made my Owl Wagon cozy and unique.
There are plants inside and out. I put a shelf underneath my window and now I have many little plants sitting on it. I love the feeling of having living plants where I stay.
In another post, I'll explain why I created my Owl Wagon and how I am using her.
