Remembering Grandmother Eve

Evelyn Eaton (Grandmother Eve) was an important teacher, ceremonialist, and Native author. Sun Bear made her the official Grandmother of the Bear Tribe. She shared her own teachers' pipe ceremony and Red Road teachings with the Bear Tribe.

She authored a number of books on Native spirituality, including I Send a Voice, The Shaman and the Medicine Wheel, and Snowy Earth Comes Gliding.

Her daughter Terry also was involved with the Bear Tribe for many years and Wind Daughter made her the official Grandmother of the Bear Tribe when she became Medicine Chief. Grandmother Terry wrote a book about her mother called Joy Before Night.

In a cozy reading nook at West Winds, Wind Daughter and Medicine Tree honor Grandmother Eve with a prominently displayed portrait.
